They were so beautiful while they lasted but eventually died out after a few years. The conditions in the house just couldn't mimic the environment of a tropical rainforest. Just for fun you should try a Strelitzia even if just for a short time to say you tried. The cockatoo was in the hotel lobby where we stayed and he knew he was beautiful and loved the camera! I would visit him each day. I am not positive as to the type of cockatoo he was (had to do a little research to find a match).
