Garden Blogger's Bloom Day February 2011

I am so excited to be participating in my very first Bloom Day! It was a breath of fresh air to be able to walk out into the garden on this cold winter day and see signs of spring as pussy willow catkins emerge and nature starts to show its wonders.

Garden gal is even smiling because her mondo grass is starting to show signs of life.
The sage has survived the winter (so far!)
Little green sprouts in the herb garden!
Alright...a little cheating.  Some blooms from the peace lily indoors.
And of course some pretty flowers on the counter to chase away the winter blues!
The snow is finally starting to melt here in the northeast and one month from now it will be a week away from spring and the garden will again awaken. 

Inspired by the words of Elizabeth Lawrence, “We can have flowers nearly every month of the year,” Carol of May Dreams Gardens started Garden Bloggers Bloom Day. On the 15th of each month, garden bloggers from around the world publish what is currently blooming in their gardens.

    I had a chuckle at the counter flowers, they are really pretty, but I too posted some in my dining room. A little tough getting something with a foot of snow yet to melt. At least you have signs of life. Here, we might still have snow in April, two years ago, some in May! Well anyway, thanks for the smile and have a Happy GBBD. Donna

    Thanks everyone. I purchased garden gal a few years back in a local nursey and get so much enjoyment from her as she watches over the garden! I am looking forward to a couple of months from now when the peony and salvia are blooming around her.

    Hi Lee,
    I enjoyed looking through your blog and your designs. They are all very pretty! I love the summer/fall perennial bed.
    You have a lot of pretty hydrangea photos. I would love to try an oakleaf hydrangea. I just need to give it a try and see how it does.

    Amy-thank you for visiting! Oakleaf Hydrangea should do alright in your zone. Hydrangea 'Limelight' is also tolerant of the warmer temperaures. You could probably start planting pretty soon in your area. Hope spring gets here more sooner than later!
