Welcome to my Garden!
It's the month of May, a time in the garden when more blooms are appearing everyday. With temperatures now moderating into the 70's and low 80's and with some nighttime rains, the garden is coming alive with color. Join me for a stroll in my zone 7a Long Island garden!

So healthy and beautiful are your gardens, Lee! I had several of the plant varieties you have in my landscape garden which was started in 2004 (May Night salvia, summer snowflake viburnum, weeping cedar atlas, Gerard's fuschia and otto luykens. I just transplanted lungwort in my own landscape from one area to another, redefining grass borders. This year I bought and planted two Schipkaensis laurels (10gal) to camouflage household units. They were flowering profusely when planted a week ago, seem to be settling in nicely. My Bartzella is now waning of blooms, its first was April 27. Funny how we're same region yet slight differences in bloom timing. Happy gardening!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rita! You have been busy and your garden is looking wonderful! You have accomplished so much and I especially love the new spaces appearing and the numerous varieties of Peony and the purple Japanese Iris. It will be fun watching your garden space transform into your vision and it shows that you love what you are doing, even though it is a lot of work! You certainly are an inspiration. I’m tired after just pruning my hydrangea!
DeleteSpring is in high gear in your garden now, Lee! I wish I got a display like yours from my Alliums. I love that Leucothoe 'Axillaris' - the foliage makes it for me. Sadly, my climate isn't even close to being a match. Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteKris-thank you for your kind words. I am always in awe every time I visit your garden. I don’t know where to begin because every bloom is so gorgeous! I love every single plant but the Leucospermum really catches my eye with its unique blooms. Your garden is an inspiration!
DeleteI really enjoyed the garden-centric trip I took with some NE friends to Long Island a few years ago.Even though I am in Northern Calif zone9 there are many plants in your garden I just can't grow-it really comes down to summer rains (zilch here) and warm summer nights. I love Hosta 'Patriot' and because they are able to grow in z9 I tried one many years ago before I had to throw in the towel. Snails, slugs, no rain. And good old 'Palace Purple' is hard to find these days -all that new stuff has crowded it off the nursery bench.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting! Your blooms are so beautiful.especially the assortment of roses, which are simply breathtaking. Your Cistus 'Snowfire' and Bearded Iris are outstanding as well. Spring has certainly arrived in your garden!
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI especially like all the different shades of pink and purple.

DeleteLove your colour combos, especially the spruce with the alliums, the spruce with the limemound spirea, the heuchera and pulmonaria, and the driveway border. Exquisite!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That means a lot. I try to make as many color and texture combinations as I can to keep the garden going through every season. You made my day with your kind words!
DeleteYour garden is beautiful as always, Lee. I like Allium 'Globemaster' and pulmonaria. Very pleasant compositions of spirea 'Limemound' green foliage of weeping spruce and Allium 'Globemaster'.
