As Always...Happy Gardening and ALOHA!
When I fired up the computer today, little did I know that I would be treated to a trip to Hawaii. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you enjoyed this Ricki. I am reminiscing about the trip as the snow comes down again and dreaming away!
DeleteWhat a great display of images of birds and flowers. I think I would like a trip there. It really must be colorful everywhere you look. The cockatoo looks like mine, but he is a Moluccan.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna. It was wonderful. Blooms...blooms and more blooms everywhere you look. It is a true gardener's paradise...you would love it there. The cockatoo was in the hotel lobby where we stayed and he knew he was beautiful and loved the camera! I would visit him each day. I am not positive as to the type of cockatoo he was (had to do a little research to find a match). I will check out the Moluccan.
DeletePerfect post to read during the snow storm! Thank you for sharing a bit of your sunshine with us.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I am living vicariously through my own photos. With thirteen inches of snowfall on the ground I just keep looking at them! Thanks much for visiting!
DeleteThank you Nora. I needed a "color fix" too so I figured others would. You made my day with your lovely comment! Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time finding your comment section- - -. Beautiful pictures of Hawaii. I love all the flowers from Hawaii, but the White Plumeria is my favorite. The flowers and the scents were my most favorite part of Hawaii when we visited there. From the time you get off the plane until you leave you can smell all those beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting and commenting Susan. Hawaii was a tropical paradise indeed. I could use some of those flowers and scents right now!
DeleteI have always wanted a Strelitzia as a houseplant, but I know I don’t really have a good place to grow one, once it gets a few years old. My living room is east facing and I have a huge radiator under the only window – I will keep on dreaming :-)
ReplyDeleteLoved your photos, it all looks very tropical, especially loved the hibiscus.
Hope you have a great day!
Bird of Paradise are so wonderful. Years ago I had a Bird of Paradise (small one) and a small Anthurium. They were so beautiful while they lasted but eventually died out after a few years. The conditions in the house just couldn't mimic the environment of a tropical rainforest. Just for fun you should try a Strelitzia even if just for a short time to say you tried. Eastern exposure will give it good am lighting and how about a grow light?
DeleteYour photos are really beautiful, Lee! Hawaii is truly paradise!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed Beth and thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI'd love to visit Hawaii but viewing your photos of the colourful blooms and interesting birds is the next best thing. It always amazes me to see what we use for houseplants growing in their natural habitat.
ReplyDeleteWhile it is 18 degrees outside I am dreaming of those tropical blooms right now! Lots of houseplants do help during the winter months but I sure would like to be able to grow those bromeliad on my property! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteOMGoodness, Lee, what a place to be with a camera, and how perfect that I see this today, when it is so cold and gray here. All of these are wonderful, but that Bird of Paradise is just amazing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to you!
Thanks for dropping by Lisa. I was hoping to brighten someone's day with these photos. Also I am glad to have found you since I am enjoying your beautiful photography. Keep warm!
DeleteBeautiful shots and a great reminder that I need to go through mine! I was just there in April and haven't been able to distill it all into a blog post yet...thanks for a shot of color on this cold day!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed Karen and thanks for visiting. It was fun going through all the photos and reminiscing about the trip and all the gardens. I will look forward to seeing your blog post!
DeleteI love the bird of paradise! I used to work at a greenhouse where they let me pick some and take home. Hawaii looks lovely...we have more cold air headed our way.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by Erin. How nice that you got to work in a greenhouse with the beautiful tropical blooms. We also have more cold air headed out our way. It was actually above freezing today but tomorrow it is dropping back down to 18 degrees and more snow on the way next week. Stay warm!
DeleteYou brought back good memories! Many years ago my husband and I visited Kauai, and I still remember the beautiful gardens there. I also took a similar photo along the road to Poipu beach! We still talk about our trip and would love to go back.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I could bring back fond memories for you. The Tunnel of Trees was so amazing every time we drove through it. Being the determined photographer I actually stood on the side of the road waiting for a clearing with no cars to get the shot...not an easy task but worth it!
DeleteLet me just start off by saying that your photography is beyond beautiful! The way you captured these blooms just made me sing! I have never been to Kauai but based on what you said will be adding it to my garden bucket list! Thank you for inspiring on these cold days of winter....I needed some color! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Nicole. I appreciate your comment and thank you for visiting! I am glad the photos gave you some brightness on this cold winter's day.
DeleteOh, I love Hawaii! The flowers are gorgeous, the hibiscus is one of my favorites. And what a wonderful variety of birds. Great post, have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful place. There are hibiscus everywhere and in all different colors and the birds are not afraid of people so I could get up pretty close with the camera. Thanks for visiting Eileen and have a great week!
